We have reforested more than 2000 pioneer trees on the farms of Biri and Los Tres Monos, located in the municipality of Filandia, Quindio, Colombia. The purpose of this reforestation has been to expand the frontiers of the Barbas Bremen reserve, increasing the habitat of flora and fauna, and capturing CO2 so as to help mitigate climate change.
In addition, we promote awareness with local communities around the importance of the recovery of the cloud forest beside which Biri and Tres Monos is located. Activities include working with local peasants and organisations through 'Mingas' (collective work parties) where we plant trees and engage in cultural activities such as cooking traditional food. We appreciate that these forests help capture the water we consume, regulate our climate, increase biodiversity and natural pest control, and to bring us inner peace.
